Thank you to everyone who took part in the Big Bike Revival!
It was such fun to have delivered 11 cycle local events over the past summer, basically one event every weekend!
There were over 1,600 people engaged with the Big Bike Revival. Exceptional for the communities of Buckfastleigh and South Brent.

The Cycle South Dartmoor project is currently in its initial phase. A proposed safe cycle route has been identified to link Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and South Brent (through Dean Prior), and the project group raised funds to commission SUSTRANS, a UK sustainable transport charity, to undertake a Feasibility Study. SUSTRANS have visited the area, examined the proposed route and produced a Feasibility Study that identifies various options to deliver a safe route. Our ‘3 Dartmoor Towns Route’ aims to connect to a network of local routes, particularly being part of a longer, more extensive National Cycle Network from Exeter all the way to Plymouth!

The Cycle South Dartmoor project group provided feedback to SUSTRANS, which resulted in two appendices to the report.
You can view the initial suggestions and feedback made in response to the study by Cycle South Dartmoor here. One of our main concerns was that we had originally requested that the route go all the way to South Dartmoor Community College (South Dartmoor Academy), and beyond to link up with other existing routes east of Ashburton. We eventually drew up appendices to the feasibility study report.
NEXT STEPS
We look forward to the next step engaging with communities and businesses along the route to understand their needs and gain their input in order to make a safe cycle & walk route that works for as many people as possible, people of all ages and abilities. To help us with the next step, Sustrans has provided a proposal for community engagement. Click on the image below to open a PDF of Sustrans Proposal for Community Engagement.👇🏻
